Day Use at Hendy Woods
Hiking
There are miles of hiking trails at Hendy Woods. Most are easy or moderate. You can walk amidst the ancient redwoods, in the meadow, or along the Navarro river. Dogs must be on leash at all times and are not allowed on some of the trails. Bikes are restricted to roads.
Picnics and BBQ
The Day Use Area in the big meadow has a number of picnic tables, barbecues, two shade structures, and bathroom facilities. The area has been recently upgraded to include all-access facilities, paved paths, and new interpretive signs. These upgrades were made possible by donations from the Hendy Woods Community and Save the Redwoods League, with additional funding from the Department of Parks and Recreation.
Swimming and wading
Depending on the time of year and the amount of rainfall received, visitors can swim under the Greenwood Road bridge or access the river for wading from the Day Use area.
