May 5, 2019 the Hendy Woods Community held a spring celebration to honor our volunteers and park staff, recruit new people, and enjoy the wonderful day with costumes, food, and games for kids of all ages. Park Interpretive Specialist Steve Jahelka provided rousing guitar and song before leading a guided hike in Big Hendy Grove, and at quieter moments we were delighted by the sweet tones of Victor S on his dulcimer.
Perhaps the highlight of the day was a group intertwining of the May Pole, a perfect metaphor for the cooperation it takes to keep Hendy Woods a vibrant place for all to enjoy.
